Yesterday we went for a walk around a part of Busan we hadn’t previously explored, the area around Busan National University known as PNU. We ended up there due to the rumour of a great burger joint (more about that in a later post)…but ended up discovering something totally unexpected in the form of loads of amazing street art everywhere. Lurking down alleys, adorning the entrances to various establishments and hanging on walls was an impressive array of art.
We found this little guy too and couldn’t resist including him.
We get the feeling there’s heaps more to discover in Busan (and beyond) so we’ll be keeping our eyes sharp from now on. Peace PNU!

This is amazing. A lot of it is far more sophisticated than what we get in Beirut – though I can’t tell if the messages are as polical. Lovely photos.
Yeah its a bit hard to tell what all the messages are, being a foreigner here. But beauty is universal. I imagine some of the work in Beirut is pretty powerful.
Wow, never thought I’d see graffitis in a neighborhood in Korea. Great artworks actually. I’ve only been to Seoul and I love the place. Great food too.
We certainly hadn’t seen any prior to this day. Now we’re looking for it everywhere. Alas, in the village where we live there is none to be found.
Seoul is amazing – we’re definitely looking forward to visiting there again sometime while we’re in Korea. And yes, the food is great!
These are awesome! I have never noticed any of that in PNU. I guess I haven’t looked in the right place.
Which burger place were you looking for? I really like Valance Burger, but I’m sure there are some better places around.
We saw one piece initially and then just kept discovering more and more…it was a happy accident! Keep your eyes peeled next time you’re out and about and I’m sure you’ll stumble across it.
We were hunting down Farmers Burgers and we found it – we’re going to blog about it soon because it was SO damn good!!!!! Maybe we’ll check out Valance Burgers next time we’re down in Busan – thanks for the hint!

That’s dope freshness! I love graffiti art. I wished I could draw that way, too. There is a cafe in Hawai’i, where all the local graffiti artists go and show off their skills. It’s fun and interesting.
Graffiti is way cool! It was such a random discovery for us to stumble upon as Korea doesn’t seem to have a lot of it. We’re interested to see where else we find stuff…!
Great shots. Graffiti is where it’s at. Sometimes you can get a real feel for a place just by seeing what kind of graffiti they have — if any at all. We have yet to make it all the way down to Busan, but it’s definitely on the list. Thanks for sharing!
Make sure you get the chance to see Busan – its a really great city. Beautiful beaches, great malls (haha) and random graffiti. Its definitely worth a trip!

Busan is amazing…Ulsan has way less charm. Given the choice, I’d certainly try and aim for the Busan area! Are you applying to hagwons or through the public system?
Sorry for the delay, I didn’t see your reply in my notifications. We’ve actually just arrived at a hagwon in Yangsan (near Busan, the last stop on the subway line fortunately). We’re pretty overwhelmed (in a good way) by what we’ve seen of Busan so far and will definitely be doing a trip to Ulsan in the future. It’s going to be an adventure and will keep using your blog for ideas of places to visit!
